Murray Sacked!

Paul Murray has been sacked in the wake of our humiliating FA Cup exit to Blyth Spartans, leaving the Vic after just 44 days in charge!

A club statement was released on the official website today confirming his, and Willie Donachie’s exits, with Sam Collins again placed in temporary caretaker charge as he had been prior to Murray’s appointment when we parted company with Coops.

‘Hartlepool United can announce that Manager Paul Murray and Assistant Manager Willie Donachie have been released from their contracts.

‘Sam Collins has been placed in temporary charge of First Team affairs.

‘The Club will be making no further comment at this time.’

Perhaps this is the new lowest ebb! I’d said just a few hours ago that I didn’t think Murray would last long into the New Year if something didn’t change but as much as the pressure was already on the 38 year old, which grew after that defeat, I didn’t think he would be sacked before a chance to respond was given.

We’ll now be seeking a seventh manager since 2011.

This sacking suggests that the board feel they made the wrong appointment, perhaps they can hold their hands up and admit this and make sure that they make the right one this time. Then again who would want this job! I’m not even sure I would.

There isn’t much chat on issues, such as this, on the front pages but there is in the forum for anyone who wants to get involved. Feel sorry for Murray, think he at least deserved a few more weeks to see if this could have spurred a reaction for him and the club.

I feel he had to go as the article I did the stats dont lie and it clearly wasnt working as a team. Cruel but a decisive decision . I believe anything from the Burton game would be a bonus. But after that sre three games we have to get results in. If we survive it was a great move if we still go down it is as a result of the player policies at the club ,we just aint good enough.
