Hartlepool United goalkeeper Scott Flinders has admitted he’s desperate to make it to the Premier League.
Flinders played for the England youth teams earlier in his career and admitted he’s eager to get back to that level ”Being in the England set-up at 18, you do see the other side of football – the better side really.
”The players that I played with through the England ranks are now Premiership players and that’s what I want to strive towards.
”It’s always nice to have a grounding with those sorts of players. They’re doing well for themselves and I want to be where they are now.”
After impressing in his opening games for Hartlepool he says he wants to get to the highest level ”I don’t want to disrespect Hartlepool but I want to be a Premiership player. I think all the lads in the dressing room do.
”It’s getting my career back on track and having a manager and goalkeeping coach who back you. I needed to come down to take two steps back up.” he told the Mail.

Well if he had said he had always dreamed of playing for Hartlepool and would never dream of leaving I wouldn’t have believed him.
Ambition is good – but I hope he thinks the best way to achieve his goal is to have a season or two in our first team rather than being 2nd or 3rd chouce at a “bigger” club.
I agree… better to be playing first choice for a smaller club…
Dimi, anyone?
