Hartlepool United coach Colin West has said Ritchie Humphreys’ return to first team football will boost the team.
Humphreys made his comeback from injury with the reserve team last night and West says he was pleased ”Ritchie played exceptionally well considering it was his first game back.
”He did all the correct things and he is a great example to the younger members of the squad.” he told the Echo.
West admitted that Humphreys may have to wait for his chance to play for the first team ”We are not going to get too anxious and think we can put him straight in because we are doing well away from home.
”But he has certainly put himself in the picture for that first-team spot. I would almost certainly say he will be in contention for a place on the bench on Saturday.”

Which first team spot – left back or midfield
Got to play IMO. Great leader, great passer, calm influence, perfect for that centre mid spot. Has to partner either JAF or Rowell. Ritchie in the middle would sort out of midfield problem of getting over run.
Ritchie Humphrey’s comes into my work every now and again. Nice guy.
I don’t think he’ll be playing LB again, OvertheHill.
He’ll b a more attacking threat that Hartley tho, specially at home. Which is our main problem, no fullbacks attack.
