Michael Mackay notched his second goal for Gateshead last night but was unable to help his side avoid defeat at Chester.
Gateshead’s trip to the Deva Stadium became even more difficult on 19 minutes when James Curtis was sent off and former Darlington striker Gregg Blundell slotted home the resulting penalty.
Mackay brought the sides level with a neat finish just after half time but it wasn’t to be as Nick Chadwick gave the home side the win.
