Hartlepool United crashed out of the FA Cup at the first attempt after a humiliating defeat at Chesterfield.

Hartlepool United caretaker boss Micky Barron all but ended his chances of taking the job on a full time basis as his side were humiliated at League Two side Chesterfield in the FA Cup.
Barron named an unchanged side for the trip to the Proact Stadium but saw his side a goal down after less than a quarter of an hour. Good play from Danny Whitaker fed in striker Scott Boden, who clipped the ball over Scott Flinders to give his side the lead.
The home side doubled their advantage when Mark Randall tapped home from close range on the half hour mark and ended the game as a contest when Craig Clay eased through the visiting defence and added a third before the break.
It took a fourth goal before Barron made any changes, Terrell Forbes’ volleyed finish prompting him to replace Ritchie Humphreys, Paul Murray and Jack Baldwin with Jonathan Franks, James Poole and Sam Collins with 60 minutes on the clock.
Antony Sweeney gave Pools a glimmer with hope after heading home on 78 minutes but those hopes were smashed within 60 seconds as a Peter Hartley effort allowed Jack Lester to add a fifth goal for Chesterfield.
Things went from bad to worse at the death as Craig Westcarr made the score 6-1 to the side who are currently 16th in League Two.
A new low for Hartlepool United, who now face league leaders Tranmere on Wednesday night.

I have had the p… Took out of me for years being a hufc fan i can and have took it …but this is a new low for the supporters who pay your wages take a strong look at yourselves and ask Do I deserve wage this week ?
I have said before on here that the players are spineless and have said that they were shocking as they wanted the gentleman that was neil cooper out but now he’s gone and a performance like that was put in make no bones about it the Sunday sun nailed it when they described the performance as pitifull and hopeless I fear for the clubs future with a bunch like this I hope the fans can make their feeling known weds at home to tranmere
I think we have to accept that whoever comes in, this season is a write-off and we’re gonna be back in our “spiritual home” next season. However, it’s not all doom and gloom as far as the new manager’s concerned. Firstly, I doubt that they’ll cop much of the blame for what now looks like an inevitable relegation as the damage was done long before by Cooper and the players he mistakenly put his faith in. Secondly, a lot of the spineless wastes of space we currently have pretending to be a playing squad will be out of contract in the summer and we can kick their worthless backsides out of the door and get rebuilding the team. And the sooner that happens the better.
