Former Hartlepool United striker Adam Boyd has joined Conference outfit Lincoln City on trial.

Boyd left Pools in the summer and was later signed by Northern League side Celtic Nation. However, his spell with the free spending Cumbrians came to an abrupt end last month when he left the club after making just a handful of appearances.

He has now joined Lincoln on a trial basis after being recommended by fellow ex-Poolie Colin Larkin, now also a player at Sincil Bank.

Lincoln boss David Holdsworth said: ‘Adam joined the squad for training on Tuesday and there is no doubt he is blessed with tremendous ability,’ he said.

‘He was a little bit rusty in terms of fitness because he has not played for a while and I understand that.

‘But he is a nice guy and I’m more than happy for him to continue training with us.

‘His record speaks for itself in terms of the goals he has scored in his career.

‘I’ve told him that I’ll look at him very closely and we’ll take it from there.’
