Hartlepool United coach Micky Barron is looking for his reserve side to get revenge over Gateshead this evening.

Pools second string have lost just once this season, in September’s cup clash with the Tyneside club, and Barron wants an improved performance when the two meet again tonight.

”We’ve spoken to the players a lot about shape and the way we want them to play. But anyone who played in that first game against Gateshead will know we’ll have to just simply perform a hell of a lot better than we did that day.”

He went on to say that he was pleased with the way his reserve team players have broken into the first team in recent weeks.

”In fairness to the lads, I think we have improved in training and in Reserve games since then and it’s up to the players to keep pushing for First Team places.

”You’ve seen the likes of Armann Bjornsson, Colin Larkin and Leon McSweeney get their chance after doing well in the Reserves and all the players must follow that example.”
he told the Pools official website.
