Hartlepool United’s new signing James Poole has admitted that England midfielder Adam Johnson persuaded him to make the move to the club.
Poole said that Sunderland-born Johnson had praised the area and the club ”I spoke to Adam Johnson when I was supposed to be signing and he said there are some nice places around here.
”He promoted the club to me. I spoke to a couple of mates who had played against Hartlepool this season and they said it would be a good move too.”
Although he has not made a breakthrough into Manchester City’s first team, Pools says that he’s learning from the world class players at Eastlands.
”It’s tough at City in terms of breaking through into the first-team squad. But you’re training with the best players in the world every day which has got to stand me in good stead.
”As soon as I heard Hartlepool were interested, I wanted to go.”
