Hartlepool United boss Danny Wilson has confirmed Pools did speak to Boston United about Julian Joachim, but did not bid for the player. Speaking in todays Hartlepool Mail Wilson commented:

‘We have asked about Joachim but he is just one of the names be have been looking at. We have spoken to lots of clubs about players. But in terms of getting piped to sign him, that is a bit different because we are not yet in a position to actually sign players.’

Wilson’s comments were made before confirmation had come through that Pools are no longer subject to a Football League transfer embargo. Wilson continued:

‘We are not below the salary cap yet and until we are we cannot bring anyone in, but hopefully that will be readdressed this week. We are looking at all scenarios whether it is players moving on or exchanges deals or whatever. But I am not concerned about what Darlington say, that is up to them.

It is no secret that we are looking to add a couple of faces to provide that spark the squad needs. We will keep working at it until we are in a position to do so.’

The Football League’s head of communications John Nagle explained how Pools could get themselves under the 60% ruling, Nagle told the Mail:

‘To get below the level clubs can either increase turnover or move players on. A club’s annual turnover includes money brought in from tickets sales, commercial revenue, transfers and also external investment.

Money put into the club from another source does count towards the turnover as long as it is not in the form of a loan that can be taken out of the club at a future stage.”

As no further players have left since news of the embargo was released in chairman Ken Hodcroft’s programme notes on the opening day of the season, it has to be presumed that IOR have made a further investment into the club to bring us under the 60% ruling and allow Danny Wilson to dip into the transfer market to strengthen his squad.

Just as we suspected then – same old Dar-low over-exaggerating. I swear their board spin things so much it makes me wonder if their chairman is in fact Shane Warne… 😉

I was led to believe that he had talks at Victoria Park after we’d bid £50k for him. Those Darlo fans are full of hot air, wind and p*$%.
