The votes have been counted and verified and the first winner of the Vital Hartlepool Awards 2009 is ready to be revealed.

The first award goes to the most improved player over the course of the last 12 months and this years winner is:

Matty Robson

Robson has now left the club after rejecting the offer of a new contract but fans thought he was the most improved player last season.

In second place was fellow winger Andy Monkhouse followed by Anthony Sweeney in third. More winners will be announced this week so keep reading Vital Hartlepool to find out who else won.

  • TO be fair, I didn’t vote but I agee purely on the fact he had been god-awful the previous 12 months!

  • At times he was one of our best players last season, the home game 3-0 demolition of Southend in December being his best.
