Sunderland Striker O’Donovan Linked With Pools

Sunderland’s Irish striker Roy O’Donovan is the latest player to be linked with Hartlepool. Former boss Roy Keane splashed out ?500,000 for the former Cork star but he only made 17 appearances for the Cats, failing to score.

He’s spent time north of the border on loan at Dundee United and also moved to Blackpool last season on loan. It is understood that Chris Turner is searching for a top-class striker, but O’Donovan’s goal-scoring record in English football so far is very poor.

O’Donovan can also be utilised on the wing but whether or not he would take a drop into League One remains unknown.
