Pools stuck with a familiar mix of trialists and fringe players as they made the short journey to Horden’s Welfare Park tonight.

Adam Boyd was left out of the squad as he prepares for the league game with MK Dons this weekend but Jonny Rowell and Alan Power both started the game.

It was a game of few chances, the best in the first half being Jonny Rowell’s free kick which was saved by keeper James Winter, a player once on the books at Victoria Park.

After going in level at the interval it was the home side who broke the deadlock midway through the second half through Dave Atkinson.

Pools grabbed an equaliser as the game neared its end as trialist Billy Greulich grabbed his second goal in two games, the striker clearly staking a claim for a contract with the club.
