Hartlepool United have this afternoon released a club statement denying this morning’s reports of an approach to Halifax Town manager Chris Wilder.

The short statement published on the official Pools website said:-

‘Hartlepool United are not in the business of approaching other Club’s Managers and have not done so in this instance.

We received a CV for Chris Wilder via an agent in February (before the post was advertised) but he has not been interviewed for the job.’

Has the wrong end of the stick been picked up here? Halifax Town’s official website stated a club had made an official approach to them to talk to Wilder, they passed on details of the interest to the manager who after discussions with Halifax rejected the approach.

I’ve yet to see anything suggesting that the club in question went direct to Wilder.

Erm…Halifax are now claiming that Hartlepool did make an approach to his agent, which I don’t think is true due to Ken Hodcroft’s hatred towards agents.

Well, if they had spoken to the club first and got the concession to talk to the player, the fact that K.H. doesn’t like agents mean that he could have directly t the man himself.
