We’ve had a boost going into the new season with the confirmation today that Luke James has committed his future to the club by signing a new contract.

As with virtually every contract that is signed these days no length has been revealed.

The 19 year old has told the official website about his joy on signing this new deal with him very much looking forward to the new season, where he will hope to match (or better) his 16 goals from last season that helped him win the Players’ and Fans’ Player of the Years Awards.

‘I’m over the moon to get the new deal sorted.

‘I am just so happy and now so I want to try and concentrate on the season coming up and trying to do as well as I possibly can.

‘I’m buzzing to be here and to have signed the deal so now I’m just so looking forward to the season getting started.’

Without wishing to sound negative, and this is great news, I think it would be naïve to think that this new deal ensures that we’ll keep him at the Vic for the duration of it but what it does do is make sure that anyone looking to poach him away will have to pay more for him now with a longer deal in place.

Another looking to ‘win a deal’ is Jonathan Greening with his trial with us confirmed, he’ll be turning out against his, and manager Coops’, former club Middlesbrough and spending this week training with us.

Greening doesn’t have to prove too much to anyone really but if he is willing to accept what we offer and can show he is still up to it then the 35 year old may well make the Vic his home for the coming season?

This site is looking for bloggers, so if a fan can offer us a genuine opinion from someone that supports them we would love to share it with the masses!

Good for pools to get James tied down, as clubs could have come in at Xmas a got him for nothing but a few quid.
On greening, would be a good signing, but he is x-boro so of course cooper will sign him, he only signs x-boro players lol

His new contract certainly means that when, and not if, clubs come in they’ll have to pay a fairer price. As for Greening, we’ll have to see but you’re probably right!
