It was double delight for us on Wednesday as Michael Duckworth became the latest player, key and ‘star player’ at that, to commit his future to Pools.
A year after his arrival from Bradford Park Avenue in which he proved that the professional game isn’t in anyway beyond him the right back has extended his stay at the Vic by signing a new deal.
Yet again no details of it’s length have been revealed.
He’s told the official website that he felt he did even better than he could have hoped last season and got his reward, which he now wants to repay with him happier still to get this deal sorted before the season begins.
‘I’m delighted to get it all sorted out before the season and now I can totally focus on the football.
‘The last year has been very good for me to be fair; it’s probably gone better than I could have expected but I know that I still have a lot of hard work to do.
‘The gaffer told me that if I played well then I would be rewarded and he’s stuck to his word so hopefully now I can have a good season and repay the faith he’s shown in me.’
Another one that I’m more than happy to have tied down to a longer deal, hopefully he’ll stay with us for it’s duration, and more, and we can move forward together. If not and he is tempted away at least we can get a truer valuation for him.
