Hartlepool United have this morning announced that Ian Butterworth has joined the club as Reserve team manager.

Butterworth has been assistant manager at Cardiff City and down the road with our friends Darlington. Looking at the official website he appears to have just about every coaching qualification available (UEFA B, UEFA A and UEFA Pro) and has just returned from the World Cup were he has been scouting for the Football Association, nice work if you can get it.

Danny Wilson told Pools official website:-

“It’s a fantastic appointment for the Club. The nice thing is that these days people are always talking about qualifications and Ian has the maximum he can get at this moment in time.

I am sure he is going to be a real asset for us as he is very highly thought of in football – the fact he has been to the World Cup helping The FA speaks volumes.

We are very fortunate to have him and I am really looking forward to working alongside him.”

So finally we have some progress, with Wilson appointing Butterworth as his number two I think we could see a player or two joining Pools before the week is out. No doubt Butterworth will be a welcome addition although I thought the same of Steve Agnew so what do I know?!

Welcome to Victoria Park Ian.
