A report in today’s Evening Gazette states that Hartlepool United have issued a winding up order against Billingham Town FC.
The story was initially posted on the nonleaguezone website this morning and the Gazette report this afternoon claims that a writ for debts of £10,443.97 was taped to the gates of Billingham’s Bedford Terrace last night.
They report that the problems relate to the agreement the club have in which Hartlepool play their reserve games at Bedford Terrace in return for pitch maintenance and a yearly friendly between the 2 sides.
The paper says that Town have been met with ‘a wall of silence’ when they’ve tried to negotiate with HUFC, Billingham spokesman Peter Martin commented on the severity of the situation ”This could put us out of business. We just don’t have the money to pay.
”We have worked hard over the last two years paying off debts left by a previous regime but this could see us off.
”We don’t have the cash. We don’t own the ground or the clubhouse and all the payers pay to play for us. Our only assets are four match balls, two strips and the nets.
”We have made arrangements with all our creditors to pay every penny we owe and always tried to do the right thing but Hartlepool United won`t even talk to us about it.”
Hartlepool United declined to comment to the paper and, at the time of writing, have not made any kind of statement on their official website.

As a life long supporter of ‘pools – it’s disgusting.
this is really bad all round,whatever the reasons it does not look good-10k to wind up a club that we have been affiliated with and have NEEDED in order to play our reserve team matches.
