Hartlepool-born left back Evan Horwood has issued a ‘come and sign me’ plea to Hartlepool United.

Horwood was released by Carlisle last week and he says he’s keen to make the switch to Victoria Park ”I want to get my future sorted and my agent has said there are a few clubs interested.

”But I would definitely be interested in signing for Hartlepool. I’ve said in the past that I would love to play for my hometown club. I am a Hartlepool fan so we will see what happens.”
he told the Mail.

The defender admits he’s disappointed to leave Brunton Park but is looking to the future ”I was a bit gutted and a bit shocked not to at least be offered a contract at Carlisle.

”But the manager did not like me and he wants to bring in his own players. It is going to be a long summer. There are loads of lads who will be out of football after getting released.”

Could do worse than take a look at him – left-back is definitely an area I think we could use some reinforcements in after all the “square peg, round hole” antics of last season.
