The Hartlepool Mail has published an article which disputes the Sunday Sun’s claims that a major investor is ready to pump new funds into Hartlepool United.

As Vital Hartlepool reported at the weekend, the Sunday Sun suggested that an unnamed investor had been in talks with the club about a large cash injection.

These rumours had been doing the round on the various Pools messageboards for some time but details still remain vague with the source of the investment unknown. Suggestions of IOR bringing in one of their business partners seem most likely at this stage.

However, the Mail yesterday dismissed the claims outright calling them ‘very fanciful’, despite the club neither confirming or denying the rumours when questioned by the paper.

With just one signing made so far this summer it has been suggested that a cash injection would allow the club to attract a higher calibre of player but with so few details fans remain sceptical.

The next few weeks will have all Pools fans keeping a keen eye on developments at Victoria Park, whilst also leaving egg on the faces of one of our local newspapers.
