Hartlepool could be back in the race for Leeds United striker Anthony Elding after the striker’s talks with Crewe stalled.

Elding began discussions with Crewe on Friday after Leeds accepted a bid on the striker who only joined in January.

The talks have not gone well and he told the Yorkshire Evening Post that his future may not lie at Gresty Road ”I went for talks at Crewe which didn’t really go that well. If I am going to leave, I’ve got to get it right for me.”

”I’m 26 and If I go somewhere where I might not play and it’s not right, it’s going to be a bad move.”

”’I need to do it so it’s right for me and my family, so that I’m playing football every week and enjoying it and there’s also the financial side.”

Other sides thought to be in the race for his signature are thought to include Leyton Orient, Millwall and our neighbours Darlington.

I am not surprised a few clubs are showing an interest. He was a good striker at Stockport and hasn’t been given a fair chance at Leeds.

Maybe.. but talks at Crewe that did not go well along with ‘theres always the financial side’ would suggest that he’s not expecting to take a drop in Leeds size wages. Perhaps when a club of comparable size to Leeds fanbase comes along, they could afford him. Time for a spell in the reserves I think. Good Luck to him…
