SK Brann centre-half Ármann Smára Björnsson has been touted by the Scandinavian press to team up with Pools when his contract ends in October.

Reports have grown in stature about the rumour and a deal is supposedly being wrapped up, that would take the towering Icelandic International to Pools. He can also occupy a forward role.

Ármann Smára Björnsson wouldn’t be the first to switch from Brann to Pools with Jan Ove Pedersen and Martin Hollund making the same switch in the late 90’s though if he were to retain his international place he would be the first Pools player to play for his country at the same time.

If this deal does pull of, although as yet is seems to be pure speculation, you can be sure Vital Hartlepool will cover the story.
