Transfer listed Darren Williams has admitted he has finally settled into life at Victoria Park.

After relegation from League One last season Williams handed in an official transfer request which was accepted by the club, but after a change of management and a string of superb performances Williams is now starting to enjoy being a Hartlepool United player.

Speaking to ICNewcastle Williams commented:

‘I didn’t feel I had settled in last season, but I’m happy now. I’ve really enjoyed this season and I think I’m playing the best I have for the club.’

Along with Michael Nelson, Williams has been Pools best performer this season, he has took ownership of the right back slot and looked extremely comfortable both defending and attacking on the right of Danny Wilson’s team.

Pools owners IOR knocked back a number of bids for Williams during the summer and even quoted Premiership side Sheffield United £100,000 for his services. Thankfully Pools managed to hold onto the former Sunderland player and now both parties are reaping the benefits.

Darren Williams has been one of our most improved players this season. Last season I thought he a bit hot and cold, mostly cold and I’m sure he’ll admit that. However, this season he has been brilliant and has been one of our best players. He’s a completely different player. Good on him.
