What New Signings Do We Need?

As only Peter Hartley came the latest member of Hartlepool United’s rebuilding squad the past week, what do we need the most.

Up to 5 more signings are rumoured to be a target for Chris Turner, but there was an air of a disappointment on Friday evening when only Peter Hartley made his way through the revolving doors.

But should we be too bothered? After all we are only 3 weeks past the woeful end of the season. Dean Brill is the name on every ones lips, tipped to move up north after his release from Luton Town. Rob Purdie from neighbours Darlington is also tipped for the short move and Michael Rose is the other target.

Rose is thought to be in contact with ex Pools boss Danny Wilson, although rumour has it, that Poolie exile Matty Robson is in talks with the Robins.

However Chris Turner’s most preferred target is thought to be a target man. Turner is thought to want a top-class striker on-loan although, were the money would come from remains to be seen. The name rumoured is Geordie Shola Ameobi although a deal for the lanky centre-forward seems a unrealistic target.

Roy O’Donovan is the other surprised target, and with Sunderland expecting to splash out, the Irishman bought by Roy Keane may be off-loaded to Pools.

Whoever signs for Pools before August 8th, we can be sure of a rebuilt squad led by the returning Adam Boyd, Leon McSweeney, and Peter Hartley.
