Hartlepool United manager John Hughes kept faith with the same side that won at Portsmouth last weekend and they rewarded him with a home win against Notts County.

James Poole, one of those players finally given a chance to impress in the first team last weekend, grabbed his second goal in as many matches after grabbing the opener after just five minutes.

Pools held out to the interval but the tricky Jamal Campbell-Ryce leveled soon after the restart after a long pass from Alan Sheehan.

But Pools came back to win the game when Peter Hartley headed home Evan Horwood’s cross with 20 minutes remaining. The result is Pools’ first home win since they beat Scunthorpe at the start of September.

FT: Hartlepool 2-1 Notts County
