Chris Turner spoke to the press after yesterday’s draw against Wycombe and he is delighted at the character shown by Pools.

After Pools dominated proceedings in the first half, Wycombe out of know-where took the lead, but Adam Boyd rescued a deserved point for Pools against a Wycombe defence who held very strong.

”We knew they would get behind the ball and make it very difficult. It felt very much like when we play away from home – what we usually do to the home side they did to us here this afternoon.”

The visitors reflected a typical away day performance. 10 med behind the ball, surge on the counter-attack and sit back. ”It was a very hot afternoon, which plays a part especially when the away side gets their noses in front and doesn’t really try for a second goal.”

”Obviously it was frustrating but I was ever so pleased that we eventually did get the equalising goal from Adam – he even had another chance which could have been the winner. It was the kind of game we may have lost last season or even earlier this season so I am happy they showed the character to get a point.” Turner added to the Official Website

Before the goal Peter Hartley slipped awkwardly under his leg, but Turner revealed that the injury isn’t too serious but gave a huge hint, that Neil Austin will start next week. ”He went over on his ankle which cramped his calf up. Peter couldn’t move it so Neil went on and I thought he did very well and is another player who showed he can operate in different positions.” Turner explained.
