Chris Turner believes that consistency is the way forward, as he hopes to steer his side to a mid table finish next season.

Hartlepool finished a place above the drop zone – thanks to a points deduction, but Turner has admitted that he and the club made mistakes, but that if the team can find a winning mentality, they’ll be okay.

”Getting players to be consistent has been the most difficult thing. It’s been proven that when we’ve played the top sides we’ve generally done well. When we’ve played the bottom teams, we haven’t played so well.”

Turner is reluctant to bring in as many players as last season, but thinks 13 new players doesn’t guarantee success at the first call. ”It’s getting that consistency which is obviously the hardest thing. You don’t know how the 13 players are going to mix or do as a team. That’s far too many players to bring in in one year but we did it.”
