Hartlepool United’s winding-up order against Billingham Town will finally reach court tomorrow.

It’s just over 2 months since Billingham Town found the writ for £10,000 worth of debts taped to the gates of their Bedford Terrace ground and the two parties will meet in court tomorrow.

The problems relate to the agreement the club have in which Hartlepool play their reserve games at Bedford Terrace in return for pitch maintenance and a yearly friendly between the 2 sides.

At the time Billingham spokesman Peter Martin commented on the severity of the situation ”This could put us out of business. We just don’t have the money to pay.”

Pools responded with a lengthy official statement which outlined their position ”Despite several warnings to BTFC that HUFC would seek and act upon legal advice if the debt owing to HUFC was not paid, BTFC continued to ignore payment demands and also continued to play on the pitch at Bedford Terrace, which HUFC was maintaining at their cost.

”For the sake of clarity, BTFC were fully aware of the terms of the Agreement that they had signed and despite claims by them that it was signed by a former Director the Agreement, in HUFC’s opinion, still remains valid.”
