Manager Ronnie Moore was delighted at full time in the game against Morecambe at the weekend as Hartlepool registered their first win in three attempts going back to the Wimbledon victory, but more importantly our first away day success since the end of January where we picked up a point against Tranmere.

The less said about five months since the last away win the better.

Speaking to the Official Site following the one nil victory courtesy of a credited own goal, Moore explained.

‘That`s what we`ve been crying out for haven`t we? We`ve had a little bit of luck, blocked off the line, kicked off the line but we`ve competed well. That`s as well as we`ve played away from home as a group. It`s a fantastic result for us. The effort and commitment is everything we`ve wanted from them and if they put that in again on Tuesday, all of a sudden you start believing again.’

Moore went on to say that he couldn’t fault a single one of the players for their efforts on the day as they really dug in and he joked that Scott Harrison couldn’t speak after the game because he was so pleased and emotional to have played his part in giving us this late lifeline as we head into the final games of the season now looking to secure our Football League status.

‘The lads have been fantastic, Scott Harrison couldn`t talk in there, he said he feels like crying. That`s how emotional it is for one or two of the players.’

The gaffer was also quick to credit the fans for the noise they made and the numbers they travelled in and he was delighted to see the team give them something to travel home happy about.

‘The support was fantastic again, the numbers that have come down and the noise they`ve made and we got the three points away from home, it`s been a long time since we did that.’

Harrison himself was quoted by the Sunderland Echo after the game and he explained.

‘The scenes at the end were great. The fans were brilliant and you could hear them a lot more than the Morecambe fans – to hear them like that when we are in the position we are in is fantastic. It gives you a huge boost and I was a bit emotional afterwards, it means a lot. I felt a bit like, this is it, now or never. We need to start doing it. And we did, this performance was a world away from the Burton defeat. It is a good feeling to win away and get a clean sheet.’
