Hartlepool United’s Director of Sport Chris Turner today hailed the acquisition of Adam Boyd to Pools as ”a great signing.”

Boyd secured a move back to Pools on Friday night, and Turner believes Boyd is the perfect replacement for the departing Joel Porter. ”Joel is going back to Australia unfortunately but I think we’ve got the ideal replacement.

”A good Adam Boyd is like a good Joel Porter. He can create goals out of nothing and I think he was Leyton Orient’s top-scorer last year and has scored goals this season as well.” Turner told the official website.

Many Pools fans, expect a clear-out this summer, and with 12 players contracts expiring, Turner admits there will be rebuilding ”We’ve been working now for a good couple of months on bringing new players to the Football Club.”Turner added.

As the travelling Poolies boarded their buses and trains after the final whistle, slight murmurs soon became strong rumours, as Dimi Konstantopulos is expected to sign a 12 month-loan later this week.

Turner only added to the rumours after saying he has several other players lined up ”We already have several other players lined up to further strengthen the squad and be ready to go again next season.”

The rebuilding starts, but after watching another shameful defensive display yesterday, defence has to be the main priority in which to strengthen.
