Hartlepool United left back Hugh Robertson completed his first full 90 minutes of first team action during Saturday?s 2-1 win over Bournemouth at Victoria Park and Pools boss Martin Scott was delighted with his contribution, Scott told the Hartlepool Mail:-

‘Hugh did very well for us. He was tiring a bit at the end of the match but that was understandable. He has been out for a long time and all he needs is games under his belt and he will get stronger and stronger. We all know how good a player Hugh is and I thought he played very well at the back alongside the other defenders.

Hugh has a terrific left foot and it is a major bonus to have him in the side because he can be such a danger at set pieces, whether it is from a shot or from a delivery. We saw that on Saturday when he set up our first goal and he almost created a few others.’

Hugh?s last full league one game was Pools 1-1 away draw at Colchester United way back in April 2005. Since then the fans favourite left back nicknamed the Hammer after his blistering free kick technique has struggled with a number of injuries.

Thankfully Robertson is now back in the fold and he even looks like he?s lost a fair bit during his forced absence. With Michael Barron at right back and Robertson at left back Pools shape looked much better and of course Robertson?s set piece delivery is always a bonus.

Welcome back Huuuuuughh!.
