Pools boss Martin Scott has received the disappointing news that Ipswich Town have turned down his request to extend the loan spell of young striker Dean McDonald.

Scott had hoped to extend the strikers loan spell at Victoria Park for at least another month after he impressed during his five appearances since moving to the club on the 17th November.

McDonald grabbed his first League goal during last Saturday’s 2-1 win over Bournemouth at Victoria Park. But with the current injury crisis at Portman Road, Town boss Joe Royle has turned down the request.

Saturday’s game away at Walsall with be McDonald’s final appearance in a Hartlepool United shirt.
