Hartlepool’s 2014/15 league 2 season gets underway with an away game at the Lamex Stadium on Saturday.

Stevenage Borough, as Hartlepool had the season before, dropped our of league 1 into league 2 at the end of the season with both sides among those looking to step up again.

Ronnie Henry, Calvin Zola and Chris Beardsley will all be missing through injury for Stevenage and Dean Parrett is short of fitness and misses out. Former Hartlepool man Simon Walton (suspended) misses a reunion with his old side.

Hartlepool signed Tommy Miller, Michael Woods and Ryan Brobbel on Friday and the trio are in contention to make their debuts, in the case of Miller a second debut having return to the side after 13-years away.

Also signed was young Sunderland ‘keeper Joel Dixon, who will act as cover with summer signings Matthew Bates and Stuart Parnaby almost certainly given debuts by Colin Cooper.

Stevenage will fancy their chances of starting with a win, Hartlepool will hope for something different but I think this could be a draw….

A draw would be good, but I expect a Pools win by a single goal.
It will be interesting to see if Luke features.
