After picking up no points last time around the Hartlepool Masters team has picked up its first ever point.

Pools opened the tournament with a 3-1 defeat against Sunderland with Paul Baker scoing our goal and Marco Gabbiadini scoring for the opposition. We then held pre-tournament favourites Newcastle to a credible 1-1 draw after Paul Dalton equalised a Steve Howey opener.

Pools bowed out of the competition after losing to Middlesbrough 2-0 in their final game, Craig Hignett scoring both Boro goals.

Credit must go to goalkeeper Simon Bishop who pulled of a string of fantastic saves to keep us in it.

After a good performance at the Metro Arena we must be looking to get our first ever win next year.
