After the departure of Steve Howard and an injury to James Poole, Andy Monkhouse and Charlie Wyke returned to the first-team line-up as Pools welcomed Milton Keynes to the Vic. Another late change came as Jack Baldwin started in place of Ritchie Humphreys, who was injured in the warm-up.

The visitors were ahead after just 7 minutes when Dons attacker Patrick Bamford took the ball past several Pools players unchallenged before slotting past Flinders.

The game was largely comfortable for the Dons and was made even easier when Simon Walton was dismissed for an apparent stamp at the start of the second half.

Karl Robinson’s side took full advantage as Dean Bowditch fired home to win the game keep the Dons in the top half.
