An Andy Monkhouse double helped Hartlepool leapfrog Bury and move off the bottom of the League One table.
Hartlepool United moved off the bottom of League One after an Andy Monkhouse brace helped Pools beat fellow strugglers Bury.

Simon Walton could have given the home side an early lead when his effort came back off the post before Sam Collins had a goal chalked off for a foul.

But Pools went in at the half time a goal to the good when Monkhouse nodded home just before the break and they were given another boost just moments layer when Bury’s Craig Fagan was dismissed.

Monkhouse added another goal midway through the second half when he nodded home once more. The results means Pools are not yet mathematically relegated, remaining five points adrift of Oldham with three games left to play.
