Hartlepool United left back Matty Robson has made a welcome return to first team training after a three month injury lay off. Robson went down heavily in training at Pools Houghall College base and was immediately taken to hospital were it was discovered that he has sustained lateral ligament damage, that was back in September. It?s been a long road back for Robson but on Monday he joined the Pools first team for training.

Robson told the club?s official website:

“It has been a frustrating time – anyone will tell you it isn’t nice being injured. Everyone wants to be part of the team whether you are doing well or not and I am over the moon to be back. It was just something that happened in training – I went over on my ankle and it put me out for twelve weeks.

The ankle is feeling OK now and everything went well but there is always that element of doubt in your mind. You have just got to brush that to one side and forget it ever happened and just start playing football again.?

Whether Robson will get back into the first team is of course another question, at the time of suffering the injury Robson was Pools first choice left back. Since then Ritchie Humphreys has adapted himself to become a useful replacement and Hugh Robertson has also returned to training after an equally lengthy lay off.
