Hartlepool opened the new campaign with a defeat but boss Danny Wilson was pleased with the performance.
“I thought we were outstanding at times,” he admitted. ”The performance was terrific, it really was.” Wilson told icnewcastle.
”I was delighted with the way we played, but disappointed with the way we lost. There were two contentious decisions which made the difference.”
He went on to say if Pools continued to play this way they would soon be winning games ”We played the game in the way we wanted to play, I`m sure if we play that way this season, there won`t be any problems.”
Luton boss Kevin Blackwell said that Pools did well against his side ”I thought Hartlepool came and played well. They looked like a side that’s been together for a long time and are on a good run.”
He went on to say to the Luton official website how important it is to win the season opener ”I was really pleased with the boys. It’s important to win your first game.”
