Ritchie Humphreys has told of how he thinks the pressure exerted by the local media may have been behind a the teams sluggish start to last season.

‘There was a lot of talk about us being favourites at the start of the season, but that all stopped after the start we had.’ He told the Northern Echo before admitting Pools achievements were overshadowed by the other 3 team relegated from league one in 2006

‘Even when we started on our run, it didn’t get much attention elsewhere. We were going along unnoticed while everyone was talking about the great seasons Walsall, MK Dons and Swindon were having.

‘That suited us just fine because we were quietly building up a tremendous run of our own.’

Humphreys has recently extended his stay at Victoria Park by at least another year but its widely believd Danny Wilson will bring in a new face on the left side.
