Hartlepool United have been officially relegated to League Two after Oldham recorded a 1-0 win against Yeovil tonight.
With Pools not in action again until Saturday, Oldham’s three points leaves John Hughes’ side eight points adrift of safety with just two games remaining. A first half strike from Matt Smith was the difference between the two sides at Boundary Park.
Portsmouth are also now unable to beat Oldham’s points tally meaning both Pools and Pompey will join Bury in League Two next season.
