Hartlepool, backed by the support of hundreds of penguins, ended the season with a draw at Crawley Town.

Hundreds of penguins descended on the away end of the Broadfield Stadium as Hartlepool earned a point at Crawley in the season’s final game.

Supporters in fancy dress dominated the headlines before the game and the match itself had little to offer in a dour first 70 minutes.

But the fixture sprang into life when Jamie Proctor sent the home side in front after tapping home Josh Simpson’s cross.

Andy Monkhouse leveled the scores moments later after being set up by Luke James. The same pairing combined again moments later and Monkhouse’s goal sent the travelling support into raptures.

Pools were unable to round off a dreadful campaign with a win, however, as a heavily defelcted Proctor effort meant the two sides had to share the points.

FT: Crawley 2 Hartlepool 2
