Jon-Andre Fredriksen has admitted it was time to move on as his departure from Hartlepool United was announced yesterday.

Fredriksen’s 16 month stay at the club came to an end and he said he wanted to look for first team football.

”I have been here for one and a half seasons now and sometimes you have to think about your career.

”When you haven’t played for a while now and that is why you came over, you have to sometimes move on and think about your future.

”I had a great time here in Hartlepool, it has been a very good experience. I have wanted to play in England since I was a little boy and I have done that now.”

Despite failing to hold down a regular place in the Pools’ first team, he praised the club, saying they’d made him feel welcome.

”I have enjoyed my time here, even if I haven’t played and I think that says a lot about the football here. I think Hartlepool United is a really good Club to come to, especially for players from other countries.

I would recommend it so much. Everyone is kind to you, everything is really good and it has been since day one. We have a great group of players here and coaches, they have all been very fair with me.

”I’d like to just thank everyone at the Club, I have enjoyed my time here. I’d also like to thank Ritchie Humphreys, because since I came here, he has been there for me and helped me out a lot.”

Fredriksen told the official website that he’s now hoping to find a club in Norway and gave a positive message to Pools fans.

”First of all I will go back to my family in Norway and sort out some things and then I’ll look at which club I can play for because I want to play football still.

”I would like to thank the fans for all of their support, I think they have been excellent – even last season when we struggled, they supported us and hopefully the lads here now can give them a good season because I think the team is more than good enough to stay in this league and to challenge for the top ten.”
