Hartlepool United caretaker manager Paul Stephenson know’s Pools still face a nervous run in after Tuesday nights defeat at Scunthorpe United.

Speaking to the Hartlepool Mail Stephenson said:-

‘What we have built in the last few weeks isn’t going to be tracepaper-thin. We have to keep our confidence and make sure the team spirit is there and be buoyant when we start again tomorrow because it is now onto the next game against Barnsley on Saturday.

A lot of people expected us to get something from the game, including ourselves, but you are going to pick up points when you are least expected to and sometimes vice versa.

Nobody tipped us to get anything off Huddersfield but we did and we have to keep going and do that again. Every game is a big one at this stage but we have to keep our composure and try to stay positive with everything we do.’

Pools go into Saturday’s Victoria Park encounter with 5th place Barnsley just 2 points ahead of Rotherham who occupy the final relegation place and just a single point ahead of Walsall and Swindon who occupy 22nd and 23rd places respectively.

Jeff Stelling was proud of you a few seasons ago when you took Sunderland to the wire in that cup match.
