Hartlepool United boss Martin Scott may need to change his strike pairing for Saturday?s game away at Walsall if Ipswich Town do not agree to extend the loan spell of Dean McDonald.

McDonald scored his first goal since signing joining Pools on loan during the first half of Saturday?s 2-1 win over Bournemouth at Victoria Park, but it could be his last goal in Pools colours as he signed on loan on 16th November, Pools next fixture is against Walsall on 17th December.

Ipswich boss Joe Royle was forced to hand 17 year old Billy Clarke his first start for Town in their 2-2 home draw with QPR, Royle maybe keen to see McDonald back at Portman Road to bolster his attacking options. McDonald had made eight appearances for Town this season (three starts, five substitute appearances) before he agreed to the month stay at Victoria Park.

No doubt Martin Scott will be hoping to secure the services of McDonald for at least another month, Joel Porter and Adam Boyd maybe back in training but neither player looks close to a first team recall at present and McDonald seems to be finding his feet and causing opposition defences plenty of problems. No doubt we?ll find out during the week if we?ll see Deano in a Pools shirt on Saturday.
