Hartlepool United boss Martin Scott admitted after Saturday?s 2-1 win over Bournemouth that he thought his side played better against Colchester on Tuesday night, a game Pools lost 1-0! Scott told the club?s official text service:-

?If I am honest we played better on Tuesday night and lost, but we showed resilience and desire to get the result today and I am delighted.?

Perhaps defensively Colchester did seem to cause Pools less problems than Bournemouth who created a number of good chances throughout the game, but goals win games and I don?t think you?ll find too many Pools fans that will agree with Martin Scott.

Pools have been struggling in front of goal this season and the two first half goals from Steven Istead and Dean McDonald really took the pressure of Scott?s boys in the first half. As the half time whistle was blown the team were applauded off the pitch, it?s been a while since that last happened. In the second half we were hanging on for periods, but Bournemouth have been doing very well lately and had nothing to lose as time began to run out.

Pools now go back to the training pitch to prepare for next Saturday?s away trip to Chris Westwood?s Walsall. The Saddlers drew 1-1 away at Nottingham Forest today and sit three places behind Pools on 27 points.
