Hartlepool United striker Jon Daly (who is currently the hottest hitman in League Two!) is enjoying life at Victoria Park once again.

Daly has bagged seven goals in his last three games included a great hat trick against Wrexham on Saturday. It’s a turn around which has seen him shoot himself to the top of the League Two scoring charts and understandably he is the talk of the town.

Speaking to the Northern Echo Daly commented:

‘There was a stage recently where I wasn’t anywhere near to getting in the squad, I was down in the dumps a little bit.

Now it’s going very well for me. I got two early on and should have had a hat-trick in the first half.

Of course I’m enjoying it now. I’m in the team and it’s going well for me, but three points in the bag is the most important thing. It’s great to score goals like I am and now I want to keep it going.

It’s a great feeling, the matchball’s signed by the lads and tucked away. It’s going alongside my Millennium Stadium shirt at home.

I’ve had all my best football memories at this club, there’s been some great times and this was one of them. I feel settled. I’ve bought a house up here with my fiance, things are going well at the moment. We both love it in this part of the country and I want everything to continue.’

Of course Daly is not alone in wanting everything to continue. Pools have been looking for a big center forward for what feels like a lifetime. When Daly arrived at Victoria Park every man woman and dog from Stockport seemed to dismiss him.

After a loan spell at Bury towards the end of last season Jon’s future at Victoria Park looked to be on the line. His early season form didn’t hint at the goal rush which was to come. Thank god we didn’t farm him out, well done Jon, keep it up.
