Hartlepool United defender Sam Collins has admitted that a free week could do the side the world of good.
Pools were handed a bye in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy meaning they have no midweek fixture and Collins says it could help the squad regroup after a fourth home defeat against Norwich on Saturday.
”This week is probably a blessing because we’ve had a lot of games and both the cup games have gone to extra-time which possibly doesn’t help.
”Games are coming thick and fast and you’re trying to recover to get yourself ready for the next one.
”We’ve got to work on a few things like set pieces because we feel we’re quite vulnerable from our own when we’re going up there for corners and free-kicks.”
He told the Mail that he was unhappy with the performance on Saturday and that it needs to improve ”It happened last season quite a lot and it’s happened this season when Norwich scored from our corner on Saturday.
”It can’t happen anymore. I don’t know whether it might mean a couple of lads sitting back or what.
”We haven’t been able to work on that type of thing because you’re constantly preparing for games. Now we’ve got a week to do a bit of work and iron that out.”
