Hartlepool United Reserves were held by Grimsby Town in the first round of the Totesport Cup at Blundell Park this afternoon.

Pools youthful squad included Ben Clark who made his first appearance after a hernia operation but it was the home side who took the lead in the first half through Steve Lozano-Calderon.

Pools equalised in added on time in the second half when young striker Anthony Wakefield hit home to give Pools a share of the spoils.

Former Hartlepool defender Darren Williams played for the Mariners, just days after his proposed transfer to Gateshead fell through.
