Adam Boyd has signed a two year deal with Leyton Orient after his contract at Luton was terminated on Monday evening.

Boyd had been offered to several clubs, including Pools and Darlo, for a fee of around £150,000 but there was no takers at that price. Eager to get him off the wage bill Luton agreed a mutual termination with the player and he signed for Orient today.

Many fans will be unhappy that we have not strengthened our attacking department when a quality player like Boyd was available for free. He surely would have picked us over the O’s if he had a choice.

Luton paid £500,000 for the striker who scored 60 goals in 169 games for Pools last summer but he scored just twice as Luton were relegated to League One.

I was unsure whether we should have signed him for £150,000 but we should have certainly got him on a free. He is a proven quality player and would surely have increased ticket sales for the new season.
