Another Two On Their Way (Out!)

We look set to see the numbers drop by another couple after this weekend with time running out for Paul Murray to also add to the squad as well.

Murray told BBC Tees this week that he’s keen to keep hold of loanees Charlie Wyke and Scott Harrison, but as things stand they’ll be returning to their parent clubs after this weekends crucial League 2 meeting with York City.

‘I’d like them to come back.

‘They’re going back to their parent clubs at the minute, we’re in discussions about what’s going to happen on their futures.

‘Whether they’re with us or not, we’ll be discussing it.’

The expectancy is that Middlesbrough forward Wyke and Sunderland defender Harrison aren’t going to be extending their loan spells at the Vic though.

With Matt Crooks returning to Huddersfield earlier this week, and then subsequently being loaned to League 2 rivals Accrington Stanley, Murray is potentially looking as losing three players this week.

Unfortunately when you’re relying on loanees this is a risk you always run but so far, and not at all unexpectedly, Murray hasn’t been able to really bring in the players on his list, which he said he’d be getting the backing to do so.

Does it really surprise anyone that this hasn’t been the case mind?

Working on the assumption that Wyke and Harrison don’t extend their spells unless Murray can add to the free transfer arrivals of Nicky Featherstone, Sidney Schmaltz and Scott Fenwick then it’ll be a long month or more between next weeks emergency loan transfer window closing and January when the transfer window reopens, by which time it might already be too late for us!

Fortunately we’ve had the positive news this morning that Adam Campbell’s signed from Newcastle.
