Acknowledging Hartlepool’s Position

I think we’ve all grasped the severity of Hartlepool’s plight as things stand but perhaps the players haven’t?

Paul Murray’s told BBC Tees that he’s not sure if the players have acknowledged just how poor our League 2 position is, they might be upset by it but that isn’t enough but at the same time he’s also wary about getting that balance right.

‘I want them to have that balance of being upset about where we are in the league.

‘They can’t just come into training thinking ‘I’m a footballer, I’m coming into training every day and that’s great.’

‘It is great but they’ve got to have that balance of being bright in training, but still being upset about where we are.’

There can’t be any hiding from the truth that since Murray’s come in we’ve not won a League 2 game, there hasn’t been the upturn in improvement it was hoped we’d get from his return to the Vic in a managerial sense.

How often does a new management arrival result in this upturn in fortunes? It hasn’t happened for us though! Not yet anyway,

Murray’s brought in quite a few new players and this gelling process takes time, we’ve still got plenty of this before the season ends but we need things to start clicking, and soon, or it could be too late and the worst case fears that many had before the season started could come true.

Individual errors keep costing us, we’ve got to cut them out and then work collectively as a team as that’s the only hope we’ve got!

The FA Cup provides a distraction on Friday but defeat to local Non League rivals Blyth Spartans could, even at this stage, prove to be the fatal blow so the balance of the FA Cup could also prove important.
